A fun and competitive league where it's all about the kids!

Eastern Maine Basketball League was founded in 2001; the result of a desire to offer kids in eastern Maine an opportunity for additional competitive playing time. We started with 12 teams in our first year for 6 grade boys and 6 grade girls. For the 2005/2006 season, our fifth, the league totaled 36 teams with somewhere around 500 kids participating.

Our intent and commitment since 2001 has not changed. Founded on the principle that this would be an inclusive league rather than an exclusive league it's been our desire from the beginning to include as many kids that want to play and as many towns that want to enter teams. Towns that can support more than one team in any particular division are encouraged and welcome to do so.

As of the 2006/2007 season the existing age divisions are grade 5/6 boys; 5/6 girls; 7/8 boys; and 7/8 girls. We hope to add grade 3/4 boys and girls sometime in the near future.

The league is a work in progress and we believe it continues to grow because of many people's efforts for continuous improvement. We're always looking for ways to make this a better experience for the kids and to that end we not only seek input from coaches but provide a forum in which the coaches decide on many of the playing rules.

On this web site you'll have access to additional information pertaining to the league like the rules, roster form and general administration items. The site will be used for regular season and playoff schedules, scores and standings with links to tools providing directions to schools and referee names and phone numbers.

We're very proud of the league and with the continuing support of the various communities, involved parents, coaches and administrators we expect the league to continue to prosper.
